I’ve mentioned before that I’m a big fan of what I call “Jesus Rock.” That means I’m into musicians like Matt Maher and Lauren Daigle and bands like MercyMe and Casting Crowns. Right now, I have one particular song that I have been playing over and over—both out loud and in my head. It’s a song that wakes up my soul.
It’s called “God is on the Move” by the band 7eventh Time Down. I like the beat of it and the lyrics are catchy. The song is about all the times that you can see God in action. There is one line in particular that has been dancing around in my mind. It goes like this: “Anytime the gospel stirs a searching soul…”
It’s so simple, but so powerful. I think it’s because I’ve been there so I can relate to it so well. There was a time not too long ago where I was so lost and confused and didn’t know where God was. I thought I had lost Him. I didn’t know if he was even around. But two friends of mine encouraged me to read the Bible. One gave me a Bible, and the other read the Bible with me consistently for a year. During that year, there were so many times when the gospel stirred my soul.
If there are any of you out there who are feeling lost or are struggling with your faith—perhaps it’s time to pick up a Bible. There are many apps and websites out there to assist you in what to read and in what you are reading. For instance, http://www.usccb.com (The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops) has the daily readings readily available.
