Holy Week

Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week, is one of my favorite days of the liturgical year.  The excitement in the incense infused air at Mass as they pass out the palms reminds me of days at sports games in which hats or bobble heads are given out.  For me, it’s like the Church is saying that this day – like a big game – is important.

In all seriousness, however, Holy Week is an important time for Catholics.  It’s a week in which we are reminded of the crux of our faith – Jesus died on the cross for us. It’s no wonder that the entire week leading up to Easter is full of special events and Masses.  During Holy Week, my husband and I have started our own tradition of watching a movie that has a faith-based or inspiring element in it.  Past choices have included The Passion of the Christ, Fireproof, Bella and Millions.

This year, there are quite a few movies that would fit into the category of spiritually uplifting.  Soul Surfer would have been on the top of the list if I had not already viewed it. We are looking for this year’s selection. Does anyone have any good spiritually inspiring movies to suggest?
