Preparing Inside and Out

Are you ready for Christmas?  I’m not just talking about having finished all your shopping or decorating, or any other tasks you may have on your to-do list. Instead, I’m referring to the state of your soul.  Are you ready to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas?

Today I was reading an article online that referenced something Pope Benedict XVI said at an audience he held today. He told people not to be “busy only with making things on the outside more beautiful.” It’s a good thing to think about these last few days before Christmas.  I know for myself that it’s easy to get caught up in the fun and festivities. Of course, having fun and celebrating is wonderful, but there is much more to this special season than eggnog and presents.

As the pope said at that same audience, “Amid all the frenetic activity of our lives, may this time grant us a bit of calm and joy and let us experience firsthand the goodness of our God who became a child in order to save us and give new courage and new light to our journey.”

Let’s all keep Christ in Christmas this year!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!
