Have you heard the joke about what happened at the annual office Christmas party? If you haven’t heard a joke – any joke – about holiday work parties yet, I’m sure you will eventually. For many, the words work and party do not usually go together. But I have to tell you, last night the annual Catholic New York Christmas party was filled with good, old-fashioned fun.
It was a time for those in all the departments at the paper – editorial, production and sales – to take some time out and forget about work and focus on the holidays. I won’t turn all Hallmark-card sentimental here, but it really was a good time. I think what made it work was the fact that everyone was able to step out of their usual “box” or roles at the office and just enjoy the party.
For me, yesterday marked the beginning of the non-stop celebrations occurring from now until Christmas Day. Which reminds me – this is the last weekend before Christmas! It’s sure to be one filled with the hustle and bustle of last minute preparations for the big day. But it’s also the perfect time to enjoy the season, step out of our usual roles, and have some spirited fun!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
