If the signs around are any indication, today is going to be a good day. Commuting to work this morning on the FDR, I saw a bumper sticker that said “Smile, God Loves You.” The marketing ploy worked – and I did smile after reading this message from a fellow driver. That smile grew wider as I got to work and saw an article stating that the Vatican approved the movie “Blues Brothers” on the 30th anniversary of its release.
The approval was announced in the Vatican’s paper, “L’Osservatore Romano.” As you can see from my previous posts, I’m an avid movie lover. To hear that this comedy got a recommendation like this just made me extremely happy. Any time that the lighter, brighter side of the Vatican is shown like this – and shows that even pop culture can be used as a tool for renewing faith is a good thing.
In the classic words of the Blues Brothers, “We’re on a mission from God.” And really, aren’t we all?
